FAQs About the Braves and Travel Baseball
Q: When are tryouts held for travel baseball teams?
A: Travel teams in New England, including the Braves, hold tryouts from the end of July through the beginning of September.
Q: What should we do to prepare for tryouts?
A: Participate in as much baseball as you can! Town spring ball is great and we highly recommend participating in summer town travel teams as much as possible.
Q: Is travel baseball necessary?
A: In an ever-increasingly competitive world we recommend that those players who wish to pursue baseball in high school and beyond take part in travel baseball.
Q: What is the yearly schedule for the Braves?
A: Fall Practices: September - October
Strength and Conditioning: November - March
Winter Practices: January - April
9U-12U Games: April - early June
13U-14U Games: April - July
15U-18U Games: June - August
Q: What gear is included in the price of team?
A: With the Braves your child will receive a fall t-shirt and hat, a custom hoodie only available to players, and a full uniform (hat, jersey, pants, belt, socks). We also hand out fun stuff from time to time (new helmets free of charge in 2023!).
Q: Is it possible to play for the Braves and enjoy town baseball as well?
A: Absolutely! In fact we recommend playing town ball in addition to Braves unlike some other local programs.
Q: What is the birthday cut off for each age?
A: The Select Baseball League date cutoff is May 1st. If I turn 12 on May 2nd then because I was 11 on May 1st, I am eligible to play 11U. If I were to turn 12 on April 30th, I would be required to play 12U.
