General Information on Travel Baseball

In order to make navigating the potentially confusing waters of travel baseball a bit easier, we at the Braves want to highlight some important facts:

  • 9u-10u travel baseball takes place on the Little League diamond with 60ft base paths and a 46ft mound

    • these seasons run from early April until the end of May

  • 11u-12u travel baseball takes place on the Pony Diamond with 70ft base paths and a 50ft mound

    • these seasons run from early April until early June

  • 13u-14u takes place on the full-size diamond with 90ft base paths and a 60.5ft mound

    • these seasons run from mid-April until early August

  • 15u and up takes place on the full-size diamond with 90ft base paths and a 60.5ft mound

    • these seasons run from mid-June until early August but can vary with the focus of the team (playing a season vs. tournaments only vs. a mix)

  • At 11u there is the introduction of leading and stealing which is essentially the kind of baseball you see on tv.  In our experience, kids who take part in 11u travel ball have a definite advantage over those who do not when it comes to the Williamsport tournament and middle school baseball

  • There are no pitch limits in travel baseball so communication with the head coach when it comes to reporting town pitching is critical to your child's arm health.  We cannot read minds and often kids do not readily speak up about town pitching so it falls on the parents and coaches to communicate
